Sonnenblick-Goldman (Australia) Pty Ltd has named Ben Dillon as a director and principal of its Australian operation.
Mr. Dillon, a 10-year real estate finance veteran, will be based in Sonnenblick-Goldman’s Sydney office, where he will focus on expanding the firm’s Australian and Asia Pacific business, including arranging project equity for all types of real estate assets, structured financings, investment sales and equity capital for medium-sized investment funds.
Previously, Mr. Dillon was Head of Property for Westpac Institutional Bank, where he was responsible for a property financing portfolio of more than $7.5 billion and the underlying relationships with the majority of Australia’s property developers and investors. Prior to Westpac, Mr. Dillon also gained experience in property investment banking with Macquarie Bank Limited, acted in a senior management role with a major listed hotel group and was a corporate advisory partner in KPMG.
John Smith, managing director and principal of Sonnenblick-Goldman (Australia) Pty Ltd, commented, “As one of Australia’s leading commercial real estate lenders, Ben brings the practice extensive experience and deep relationships in both the real estate and debt capital markets. His appointment is a reflection of the growth and breadth of Sonnenblick-Goldman’s real estate advisory services.”
Mr. Dillon’s experience includes structured financings, capital raisings and property acquisitions and sales. Over the past five years, he positioned Westpac as the leading hotel industry banker in Australia. As the head of property, he led the bank in doubling its property finance portfolio.
“Sonnenblick-Goldman has a proud and successful history of providing high-level equity and debt structuring advice to its clients,” notes Mr. Dillon. “I am delighted to join the firm and look forward to helping grow our local, regional, and global business.”
Roger Griffin, managing director Sonnenblick-Goldman Asia Ltd, adds, “Ben will become a key part of our regional practice and of our debt structuring group in particular. He is well known and highly regarded throughout the region.”
Mr. Dillon holds a bachelor’s degree in law and economics from Sydney University and a Masters in Management from the Macquarie Graduate School of Management. He is an associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and of the Securities Institute of Australia. |
